An anonymous source told Life & Style that
Queen Elizabeth has decided to pass down her royal duties to her
grandson Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton. Now, it should be
pointed out that the queen has yet to make any sort of formal
announcement herself to confirm this news, but if it's true,
it's pretty exciting. It would also mean that the queen is skipping over
her own son, Prince Charles, in the British monarchy’s line of
succession, which is not so exciting for him.
But why would the queen make such a huge decision? Life & Style's
source claims that the queen believes installing a younger generation
than Prince Charles is vital for the House of Windsor to thrive in the
future.Queen Elizabeth II has hired an equerry, & it's a milestone hire
“Her Majesty realized that William and Kate are the future,” said the palace insider. “She has spent 65 years making sure that the House of Windsor survives, and she sees William and Kate as having the energy and star quality to do the job in a modern world. Queen Elizabeth will always do what is best for the long-term health of the monarchy.”

Can't argue with that — William and Kate are definitely a power couple, and all eyes would be on them if they were to officially take the royal throne.
But only time will tell. We're not getting our hopes up until the queen makes the announcement herself. We'll keep you updated if (big if) and when she does.
